Graco Harmony High Chair Recall
The Graco Harmony High Chair, made by Graco Childrens Products, has been rocked by a recall of 1.2 million of the baby high chairs. This is the THIRD Graco product recall since September 2009! Back in September 2009 it was the Graco Stroller, the Graco Snugride if memory serves, that was affected by a major recall. And then in January 2010 it was another Graco Stroller recall. Now the Graco Harmony High Chair is affected by a massive recall.
On Thursday, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that the Graco Harmony High Chair is not safe for use. According to the CPSC, screws that hold the front legs of the high chair can loosen and fall out. In addition, the rear bracket can break and possibly make the high chair fall over. Not a safe situation. The company says there have been 24 reported injuries, though in cases like these, the actual number of injuries is likely far higher.
Consumers should check their model number and then confirm whether their chair is on the affected Graco Harmony recall list. If you determine you do own one of the affected high chairs, stop using the chair immediately and contact Graco. They will provide a repair kit by calling (877) 842-3206 or on the Web at www.gracobaby.com. Graco did say it is only the Harmony high chair affected by the recall, and they are working to assess and improve the manufacturing process for all their products to ensure safe products. The chairs were sold at various department stores including Toys R Us, Sears, Target, Wal-Mart, and many other smaller retailers across the United States between December 2003 and March 2010.
