FBI & Vigilos
In April 2005, Vigilos completed the installation of its software at the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Quantico, Virginia. A commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software deployment, the FBI selected Vigilos for its ease of integration with existing security devices in use at Quantico and field offices around the US.
"We're pleased that Vigilos was able to complete BrightSite's full integration of Hirsch access control in time for this installation," said Mike Friedel, who manages security technology for the FBI. "Vigilos had already completed the integration of our Bosch intrusion detection panels, and the added ability to monitor and program our Hirsch panels remotely will greatly increase our security while keeping our administration costs low.
Vigilos delivered that functionality on time, and exactly to our specifications."
The FBI has stated its intent to deploy the BrightSite by Vigilos open platform broadly in its field locations across the nation, and throughout Quantico while discussing plans for future deployments.
"We are excited to have partnered with Vigilos to integrate the Hirsch hardware with the BrightSite by Vigilos software," said Hirsch Electronics Vice President of Marketing Rob Zivney. "Both companies' products are COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf), and the combination of the two sets a new standard for enterprise access control and integrated security management.
Vigilos met our high quality, training, and support standards, and we are pleased with their achievement under a tight schedule."
The BrightSite deployment will allow efficient management of physical security across multiple locations for the FBI while containing security costs. Customers, such as the FBI, have declared their satisfaction with results including increased security officer productivity, greater effectiveness in managing security for hundreds of sites, collaboration across and outside the organization, and overall improvements in security effectiveness.
