Additional Technical Considerations

Network Security

Vigilos has taken great care to ensure the integrity of the data that the software transmits and stores for its users. The development team has proactively designed the software with security considerations in mind to protect against viruses, worms, packet floods, data interception and unauthorized system access. Security measures occur at various points within the system, and we've employed the latest IT security methods including SSH, SSL, AES encryption, and several others.

System Stability

The Vigilos ESM platform provides redundancy and fail-over capabilities in several ways. The system supports a recommended on-site hardware deployment architecture that optionally includes both hardware-raided and hot-swappable drives to provide a cost-effective high-availability solution. The system also incorporates extensive self-monitoring features and can automatically notify internal or external designated users if system health issues arise. Each stand-alone location, with its independent front-end and device appliances, can continue to operate indefinitely in the event of a network outage. Finally, controlled systems such as intrusion and access control panels will continue to operate even in the unlikely event of a monitoring system failure as long as they have power available.

Bandwidth Optimization

The Vigilos ESM software is designed to limit network bandwidth consumption. The most storage-intensive data, video data, is stored locally on the front-end and device appliances to minimize bandwidth requirements, but all information, including live and recorded video, is accessible from anywhere, and delivered upon request. Only critical user-defined event information is synchronized to the Vigilos Vault, limiting network bandwidth consumption from transporting video unless a user requires it.
